Faulty Touchscreen Replacement

Not only do we repair broken touch sensors, we are able to integrate touch technology into a display that doesn't have it. With different technologies available, your touchscreen detection can be made by finger, hand or other passive objects. We offer the most advanced touch types on the market: resistive, surface capacitive, projected capacitive, surface acoustic wave, and infrared.

What's more, if calibration is malfunctioning, AGDisplays replaces the controller or updates the firmware from the manufacturer to improve or customize to meet your specific user interface.
When it seems that your touchscreen capabilities have stopped working, the simplest most effective repair is to swap out the touch sensor. With only 3 components, the touch display has few parts that can be evaluated for errors.

how to determine your touchscreen is broken

What is the difference between touchscreen and LCD replacement? The touch sensor is the component of an LCD that allows the user to interact with the data on the screen. This interaction can be controlled by a finger, stylus or gloved hand, depending on the touch sensor technology that is in the LCD itself. Identifying touchscreen malfunction can be displayed by the following symptoms: false touches, delayed or no touch response.

In many LCD builds, the touch sensor is directly behind a coverglass or substrate. If you notice cracks, scratches or abrasions on your display, test your touchscreen by manipulating the data with a stimulus. If the screen is cracked but the touchscreen is still functioning, you likely need a coverglass replacement. Review our Damaged Coverglass page for more details on this service.

The LCD display is an actual panel inside your LCD build. You cannot access the panel unless you take apart your device. If your LCD is not displaying an image, you may need to replace your LCD instead of the touch sensor. Review our Broken LCD Replacement page for more information.

Touch component replacements

If your touchscreen is registering false touches, our experts review and troubleshoot all components to narrow and rule out which part is causing the issue. This method of troubleshooting can pinpoint the exact problem, saving money on unnecessary replacements. False touches may require replacement of the following.

  • Flex circuits or other cabling
  • Touch sensor and/or controller
  • EMI interference from bezel enclosure

integration with Rugged lcd bonding

What is LCD bonding and why is it important? LCD bonding is necessary when integrating a touchscreen into an LCD build. It provides the touchscreen a sturdy foundation to the LCD for proper component calibration and adds a few extra enhancements, such as ruggedization and optical clarity. We perform three different bonding integration methods, depending on the device application, environment and customer specifications. OCA, liquid and perimeter bonding are all effective methods and each has its own benefit, depending on the project requirements. Bonding methods are performed in one of AGDisplays’ Class 1000 clean rooms.
